Also: a position in a group, series, or sequence; a place for something in a program or schedule. He slotted the concert into his busy schedule. The car seat belt slotted into place easily.
Originally, all slot machines used revolving mechanical reels to display and determine results. In the 1950s electronic components allowed for proportional payouts based on the number of coins inserted before the handle was pulled. The 1970s saw the introduction of video slots that simulated rotating reels on a monitor instead.
The term “slot” is also commonly used in air traffic control to refer to a time period when a plane is authorized to take off or land at an extremely busy airport. By assigning slots to planes, the FAA and other national air traffic control agencies attempt to minimize repeated delays that result from too many airplanes trying to fly at the same time.
The v-slot attribute can be used to render child component content if a parent element is missing. This can be useful if you want to include an additional header in a child component without including it in the markup or using a conditional directive. To use this feature, you must use a parent element that supports the v-slot attribute and a custom render function. You must also specify the name of the slot in the parent element’s v-slot attribute.
