A slot is a device for controlling the departure and arrival of aircraft at an airport. Slots are also used to limit the number of flights that can leave and arrive at an airport during a given time period.

High Slots: The high slot is the perfect place for a defenseman to take a shot, as it offers a high-angle view of the net and provides the opportunity for a one-timer. This slap shot is extremely fast and often ends up on the back of the net, making it one of the best opportunities for a goal in hockey.
